About
Welcome to Bi-Rite Market San Francisco, a true gem nestled in the heart of San Francisco at 550 Divisadero St. This delightful market stands as a testament to local sourcing and exceptional quality. Renowned for its diverse offerings, Bi-Rite is much more than just a market; it’s a vibrant community hub that invites food lovers to explore. With a phone number of (415) 551-7900, you can easily get in touch with this culinary haven.
As you step inside, you are welcomed by an inviting atmosphere filled with high-quality produce and an impressive cheese selection that will make any cheese enthusiast swoon. Customers rave about their seasonal ice cream flavors—a delightful surprise that rivals even the best creamery, without the long lines. In fact, many patrons, like Jordann Hale, declare it the best they've ever had.
The prepared food offerings at Bi-Rite are exceptional. From vibrant salads to mouthwatering empanadas, each option showcases meticulous sourcing and excellent preparation. Christine Mamuad’s enthusiasm sums it up perfectly: “Everything is incredible here.” The market’s sandwiches are legendary as well, particularly the hot Roast Beef and Vegan Hippie sandwiches, which have captured the hearts— and stomachs—of patrons like Kevin A.
However, it's essential to note that this premium quality comes with a higher price tag. As Christine mentions, “It can get wallet-burning.” Despite this, patrons, including Michaela S, suggest that while basics might be sourced elsewhere, Bi-Rite should be your go-to for gourmet choices or prepared meals.
Ultimately, Bi-Rite Market San Francisco encapsulates the essence of local grocery shopping. The atmosphere is lively, filled with friendly staff who are eager to help. Each visit promises the opportunity to discover something new, making it a favorite among locals and a must-visit for anyone in the area. So, whether you’re looking for the best quesadilla in town or an intriguing new cheese to try, Bi-Rite awaits to delight your senses and elevate your culinary experience.
“ Really lovely market, their cheese selection is amazing and I love seeing where all the produce are from in local areas. The ice cream is honestly the best Ive had and they have really interesting seasonal flavors that you wouldnt expect. And the lines are way shorter here than the actual creamery! ”
“ If I find myself filing for bankruptcy someday, its a safe bet that BiRite would be partially responsible. Thats because I want to buy everything here, and thats because nearly everything is incredible here, both thoughtfully sourced and impeccably made, from fresh fruits and vegetables, to their meats, seafood, cheeses, and prepared dishes. Sandwiches are to die for, with my current favorites being the hot Roast Beef Sandwich and the Vegan Hippie Sandwich, but liable to change when the mood hits. The desserts, from their lineoutthedoor famous ice cream to their sweet concoctionsinajar, are also fabulous, with my runaway favorite being the strawberry marscapone pretzel dessert. You cant go wrong with the prepared food options either, from their delicious salads to their unerringly fantastic empanadas. The ONLY problem with BiRite, as I alluded to in the beginning, is the walletburning price. Wowza it is expensive... but you absolutely get your moneys worth! My advice is to go elsewhere for the basics e.g. eggs, tortillas, pasta, and come here for prepared foods or anything that needs high quality. ”
“ The sandwiches here are top notch. Expensive, but really flavorful and tastey. The folks here are nice and helpful. Its like Trader Joes and Whole Foods all wrapped in one. Always a good time. They could do a better job noting where the line starts, but thats very nitpicky. ”
“ Fav grocery store, produce is always high quality, theres fun premade food options, its beautiful to shop at and I always find something interesting and new. Yes it can get tight and hectic inside but thats okay and to be expected for a small local neighborhood grocery store. Best part is the quesadilla. Seriously best quesadilla ive ever had. Places like BiRite are the reasons I wanted to move to SF. We are so spoiled here with amazing grocery stores and produce. Keep doing what youre doing BiRite ”

“ Great little shop, lots of fresh produce. Good cheese. Meats for days! Im a chicory lover and they got that too! ”
“ If the ice cream here is any indication of the quality of food offered, then this place is pretty awesome. I simply love the ice cream. ”
“ BiRite offers unique diverse foods that you wont find in other markets. Superb quality and selection. ”
